Do Cravings Go Away on a GLP-1?
Not always, and if you're still experiencing them, that doesn't mean anything is wrong with you. A lot of women expect cravings to disappear completely once they start microdosing a GLP-1. Sometimes the constant food noise does get quieter. But cravings don't always vanish, they just show up differently.
Maybe it's wanting something "snacky" even though you're not really hungry. Reaching for something sweet late in the day. Feeling restless or unsettled in a way that feels like it's about food, but isn't really.
Here's what I want you to know: that's not a willpower problem. Most of the time, it's your body asking for something else entirely. Hydration. Sleep. Protein. A break from stress.
The Craving Check to Run Through First
Before you assume a craving means you're doing something wrong, run through this quick check:
Have I had water or electrolytes recently?
Mild dehydration is one of the most overlooked craving triggers there is, and it's often mistaken for hunger.
Did I get enough protein today?
Low protein is one of the biggest drivers of cravings, especially later in the day. If something's calling your name at 4pm, ask yourself this first.
Did I skip meals earlier?
Undereating early in the day almost always shows up as cravings by nighttime. Small, steady meals beat skipping and then "making up for it" later.
How did I sleep?
Poor sleep raises hunger hormones and makes cravings for quick energy so much harder to ignore. If you're tired, be gentle with yourself here.
Am I stressed?
Stress cravings were never about hunger. They're about relief. A short walk, some deep breathing, even just naming the stress out loud can take the edge off before food does.
Restriction Makes Cravings Louder, Not Quieter
If you're labeling foods "off-limits," your brain will only get louder about them. Let yourself have the things you enjoy, pair them with protein or fiber when you can, and drop the guilt.
Cravings aren't a failure. They're feedback. And when you respond with support instead of restriction, they lose their grip.
PS — If cravings have felt confusing lately, run through the checklist above next time one hits. More often than not, it'll tell you exactly what your body actually needs.
